Portsoy Ice Cream prepares for the Portsoy Book Festival

We are all excited for the fifth annual Portsoy Book Festival this weekend, 17 and 18 March.


Mrs Clare Russell, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire will officially begin the festival at the Salmon Bothy at 2pm on Saturday 11 March.  Visiting writers include Stuart MacBride, Karen Campbell, Bryan Glennie, Lin Anderson, and Mark Douglas-Home.


A fun, family event will happen on Saturday morning when author Grace Banks leads a “Gruffalo’s Bairn” walk through Kirkies Woods to meet the animals of the story in local Doric.  The group will meet at 10am on 17 March at the Soyburn entrance to Kirkies woods and is free for all to attend.  More details about the book festival can be found here.


At our shop, we will have freshly made favourites available throughout the weekend.  These will include some returning or new ice creams such as Bueno, and Pink Flake as well as some of our staples such as Lotus Biscoff, Salted Caramel, and Condensed Milk ice cream.  Keep it classic in a waffle cone or treat yourself to some of our luxury toppings and hot sauces, or opting for a homemade bubble waffle.


Continuing the Scottish theme of the book festival, we will also have our favourite Cranachan for you to enjoy.  This is our own ice cream version of the traditional Scottish dessert, which we make with local oats, honey, whisky and raspberries.
