We are a family run business located in the picturesque harbour village of Portsoy in Aberdeenshire on the Moray Firth, Scotland. Since 2003, Alex and team have strived to create an exciting range of top quality homemade artisan ice creams and sorbets.
These are all made in our Portsoy shop using the finest, and when possible, local ingredients. We have won numerous awards at the National Ice Cream Competition in Harrogate. We look forward to welcoming you soon for the ultimate ice cream experience.

Every time you go to Portsoy Ice Cream there are new flavours to try. This time it was new bubble waffles, with ice cream, hot sauce and toppings – absolutely delicious! The staff are friendly and patient (with all those flavours they have to be!) and the seating area has lately been expanded so if the weather is not good there’s room to sit in and enjoy the goodies!
Amongst the best ice cream in the world – a big call, but it’s true. I have tasted ice cream all over the world (Italy, France, Australia…) but the ice cream made in the little Banffshire town of Portsoy triumphs over them all. Smooth, rich, creamy…the hot fudge sauce, which you can add at the end, takes it to another level again!
Waffles with ice cream and toffee sauce… this is just heaven on a plate. I’ve just had a freshly made warm waffle with Jaffa cake ice cream with hot toffee sauce poured over. …all I can say is yum yum… The staff were polite and helpful with knowledge about their stock. With loads of choices to make in both ice creams or hot sauces you don’t know where to start.
Best ice cream ever. The home made vanilla is to die for. We were in Cullen for a week and managed to squeeze in four visits to Portsoy for pudding! Beautiful fresh waffles too – gorgeous with the ice cream and hot sauces. Some really inventive flavours available but I struggled to pass on the vanilla after my first taste…
Perfect destination on a sunny ride out. Was great to return to Portsoy Ice Cream, this small cafe is always busy for a good reason, the ice cream quality and varieties are fabulous. Treat yourself, I do, each time I’m in the area.
Ice cream to die for. Marvellous coffee and all at pretty decent prices. It is little wonder that everyone recommends this place…..well done!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please take it from a connoisseur of ice cream in its finest forms, Portsoy Ice Cream is the best reason I can think of to visit the North East of Scotland, and the North East of Scotland has many many other great reasons for visiting.
My little girl was delighted with her sorbet last week and so pleased to have an ‘ice cream’ the same as her big brother. Staff went above and beyond to ensure it was safe for her to eat due to allergies and were very thorough passing on information regarding ingredients! Thank you.

Two different ladies served us on each occasion and both were so friendly, helpful and cheerful, encouraging us (like we needed any encouragement!) to sample any flavours we fancied. An absolute pleasure in every way and we will definitely be back again in April. Thanks again for great products and excellent service.
Great ice cream. Whilst staying in Portsoy on holiday we tried the ice cream. Amongst the best I have ever had. Lovely flavour, smooth texture and generous scoops. Thoroughly enjoyed and hope to revisit before the end of our holidays.

We are delighted to join the festivities at the 25th Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, Portsoy, with an ice cream stand at the New Harbour and a second stand at the Food Fayre in the Wally Green Marquee in addition to our shop on Seafield Street.
