This summer saw us return to two fantastic festivals in the North East of Scotland. The first of which was the Taste of Grampian Food & Drink Festival at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Saturday 3 June 2017. This is a one day food and drink family oriented festival showcasing the best of Scottish food produce. As well as hundreds of food and drink stands offering samples and sales there is also live music, crafts and live cookery demonstrations. Celebrity chef James Martin of former Saturday Kitchen fame was also in attendance. We had a stand in the indoor main area and took along a selection of our freshly made ice creams and sorbets for visitors. Our range for this festival included Raspberry, Rose and Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel Popcorn, Eton Mess, Boyndie Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Rhubarb and Ginger Gin sorbet. Our team of four offered samples and chatted to visitors about our ice creams. A great day was had by all and our team were kept busy with a large queue throughout the mostly sunny day and even throughout the thunder rain showers.
The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival was the second event we attended with an ice cream stand in the renowned Scottish Food Fayre marquee held in Portsoy, this year on the weekend of 23-25 June 2017. This annual event is a much anticipated weekend full of traditional Scottish boats, music, crafts as well as food and drink to which Portsoy Ice Cream is one of the festival’s official sponsors. As well as boat races, live music, street performers, children’s activities at Portsoy’s harbours and Loch Soy, there is also a Food Fayre at the Portsoy Wally Green. Our shop is always “queued out of the door” throughout the weekend as is our stand at the Food Fayre. In addition to our classic range, our available ice creams this year included Pistachio, Snickers, and Mango sorbet. Our shop and Food Fayre teams enjoyed welcoming visitors from all over the world including Norway, Germany and New Zealand to our shop. A fun and busy weekend was had by all and Portsoy had an excited and energetic atmosphere throughout.
